Thanks to the beautiful beaches, amazing shopping, and incredible fine dining, planning a Naples, Florida vacation can be exciting. Buying your airfare is simple enough, but choosing accommodations can be a bit tricky. While many of the people who visit Naples choose to stay in one of the dozens of hotels, there are several other options, including a timeshare, Vrbo, and AirBnB. Is one of these right for you? It depends on what you have planned!

What is a Timeshare?

A timeshare is often called “vacation ownership.” When you purchase a timeshare, you are paying a buying a portion of a property with the right to use it for a specified period of time each year. Rather than owning the property outright, you own an allotment of usage. Most timeshares include one week of use each year, but two-week, one month, and even seasonal timeshares exist.

If you plan to visit the Naples area annually, a timeshare can be a phenomenal investment. It guarantees that you will have accommodations during your usage allotment, which means you won’t have to deal with lack of vacancies or last-minute AirBnBs.

What is AirBnB?

AirBnB got its start in 2008 when two designers decided to rent out a part of their home to vacationers looking for a place to stay. Many vacationers prefer AirBnB to hotels because it offers a cozy and “homey” atmosphere. When it was a new concept, AirBnB was lauded for being far more affordable than hotels and resorts, but often more luxurious. The concept has grown exponentially, and many people are making AirBnB their entire business by buying luxury properties and converting them into vacation rentals.

AirBnB rentals are typically shared spaces, which means you will likely be sharing the home with the owner or with other vacationers, much like a bed-and-breakfast setup. AirBnB is generally better for couples or individuals traveling alone due to the number of guests under the same roof.

What is Vrbo?

Vrbo is relatively new to the vacation rental industry, and at its heart, it’s very much like AirBnB in that it allows individuals to rent their homes to vacationers. However, unlike AirBnB, guests are not expected to share the space with other vacationers or the property owners. Instead, they have access to the entire home during their stay.

If you like the idea of having an entire home to yourself during your Naples vacation, or if you are traveling with your family, Vrbo may be a better option than AirBnB. According to countless online reviews, vacationers insist that Vrbo offers exceptional customer service when compared to AirBnB, as well.

If you are planning a Naples, Florida vacation, there are plenty of options for accommodations. From hotels, resorts, and timeshares to Vrbo and AirBnB, you can rent single rooms overnight or have an entire luxury home to yourself for weeks at a time. Hundreds of opportunities are within a few short miles of Venetian Village, which is Naples’ premier location for food and shopping.
